The Queen

The spectator enters the movie theatre and wishes to believe. To believe that a mysterious, faceless woman appeared in the west of Portugal, in the beginning of the 20th century. That, at the same time, Maria Rosa Fernandes, a single mother, was trying to make her way as a wine producer. The story of these two women entangles in a strange path, leading the entire region to what it is today: one of the finest wine producing regions of Portugal. Using documental material, the movie gives form to the story, posing the question of what’s the nature of the real and ultimately if it matters more to know or to believe.
